Who we are

Bar-Top Burn ("we", "us", "our") makes hand poured candles from rescued glass bottles. You can reach us at bartopburn@hotmail.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use this website or buy from us, and what we do with it.

What we collect

• Order information: name, delivery address, and email address, collected via our payment provider (Stripe) when you check out.
• Contact form and custom order submissions: name, email address, and whatever you write to us, including bottle details and a return address for the bring-your-own-bottle service.
• Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, if you choose to join our mailing list.
• We do not collect or store payment card details ourselves — these are handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

How we use it

• To process and deliver your order, and to send order confirmation and shipping emails.
• To respond to enquiries sent through the contact form or the bring-your-own-bottle form.
• To send batch announcements to people who have opted into the newsletter.
• We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of third-party services to run this site, and your data passes through them as follows:

• Stripe — processes payments and holds your card and billing details under their own privacy policy.
• Resend — delivers transactional emails (order confirmations, contact form messages) on our behalf.
• Netlify — hosts this website and the stock/order records needed to run it.

None of these providers use your data for their own marketing purposes on our account.

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed to meet our accounting and tax obligations (typically up to 6 years in the UK). Contact form messages are kept only as long as needed to resolve your enquiry. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, subject to what we're legally required to retain.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to stop using it for marketing. To do any of this, email bartopburn@hotmail.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you think we've mishandled your data.

Cookies

This site uses your browser's local storage to remember what's in your shopping cart. This isn't a tracking cookie and isn't shared with anyone — it just lives on your device so your cart doesn't empty itself when you navigate between pages.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top.
